Jonathan D. Leffert, MD is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Leffert is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) and has received Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU). Dr. Leffert started his solo practice of Endocrinology in 1991 at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, now Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. In 2007, with his partner, Peter Bressler, MD, he founded the North Texas Endocrine Center where he currently practices and serves as the Managing Partner. Dr. Leffert has been one of D Magazine’s Best Doctors in Dallas since 2001 and has been one of the Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors every year since 2006.

Dr. Leffert’s practice encompasses all of the major clinical problems in endocrinology. He is particularly interested in thyroid disease and as part of his ECNU certification, he has expertise in thyroid nodular disease, parathyroid imaging, and lymph node mapping in patients with thyroid cancer. Dr. Leffert is the Medical Director of Ultrasound at North Texas Endocrine Center, the only American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine accredited facility in the Dallas area. He has extensive experience in performing ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration biopsy of the thyroid, which is the specific diagnostic test used to differentiate benign from malignant thyroid nodules. Dr. Leffert also has years of experience in complex diabetes management including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring in type 1 diabetes and in managing the care of women with gestational diabetes. He works closely with obstetricians throughout the metroplex to achieve excellent outcomes for both the expectant mother and infant. His other practice areas include osteoporosis and calcium disorders, male and female reproductive disorders, and the endocrine evaluation of pituitary and adrenal tumors.

Dr. Leffert has been extremely active in local, state and national professional societies over the last several years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS) and was the founding chairman of HealthPac, the political action arm of DCMS. He served as a Delegate to the Texas Medical Association and a member of the Board of Directors of TEXPAC. Dr. Leffert currently serves as President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), which is the largest association of clinical endocrinologists in the world and represents more than 7,500 endocrinologists in the United States and abroad. He also serves as the AACE Delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates and is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.

Dr. Leffert has been married for over twenty-five years and has two daughters.
